Well, today was the first walk on date for the Kaylyn. After a few phone calls to the person we thought was going to be joining us didn’t answer, I turned to my first mate Mark and asked if he wanted to fish. Well that was a stupid question, the guy was breaking out the vodoo before we could leave the dock for the Cape. We call this a training mission for all of you military readers and a recon mission for all of the snake and deer eaters out there. There must be something to that voodoo because it didn’t take us long to limit out. Now hold on ladies and gentleman (we will use that term loosely on this board) it is going to be a fast moving ride.
We head out of Little Creek in the rain and fog and set course for the Cape to try and get some MEAT.

After some strange chanting

from the cockpit and Mark doing his thing we run over a huge ball of fish off of Cape Henry the umbrella way back comes tight and the first mate is on it after complaining how far out the dam thing was

he started working the fish to the boat. I go below to grab the camera and Mark is yelling Fish On! I come up from the cabin and sure enough we have a double hooked up. After a few minutes of working the fish and trying to keep the lines from crossing we
flip a fat 41 and an equally fat 36 in the boat. It looked like fat chick night at the local watering hole.
Notice that I said flip one of the most important items you need is a net among other things. Well our net is sitting back in Ohio covered by 10 inches of snow.

Not a good place for it to be but you can’t cry over spilled milk, can you?
Once we get everything settled in the cockpit Mark is ready to put things over and do the vodoo dance again to get two more to make the limit. It took about another 20 minutes and the
mate made fast work of a 35 that did not want to get in the boat. This is where the net would have helped

. I tried to lip the fish into the boat but couldn’t grab a hold of the lip. Then I hear in the background can you just grab the fish and flip it in the boat already.
One more time through the monster bait pod and pick up the last of the limit a nice
fat 36 joining his brothers in the box. Reel in the lines and make way for the dock. Back at the dock by 12:30 a few pictures for the web site and off to the cleaning station.
We didn’t want to ruin the mojo for tomorrow as we will be off to do it again with a CONFIRMED charter this time. So stay tuned boys and girls to see what happens next on the high seas. Tight Lines and Screaming Drags and make sure you bring a NET.
