Set out for the Cell at 8 am on Wednesday to find some Spade fish. Got to the cell and took a bit to find the Cell structure and to get the anchor to hold. Once set up did well in catching small Black Willies and double catches of Oyster Crackers. We modified our move by 10 feet and got into the Spade Fish. Caught a lot of throw back Spades - we kept only 3 and 1 Sheepshead.
We were probably more selective and could have kept more but kept just enough to eat. Certainly caught plenty of Sheepshead and had a blast.
Ran out to buoy 42 and tried a little Flounder fishing. Counted 40 boats. One bite which was a 20 inch keeper.
Wrapped that up starting to pull out and the birds got active. Hopeing for Spanish we threw Glassminnows and caught some fiesty 2 lb. Blue Fish. Time to call it quits around 6 pm and wouldn't you know it the SE winds kicked up to 15 knots to make the run back nice and choppy. Got to love the chop in the bay.
Could have not picked a more beautiful day on the bay and the catching was great - wind could have held out for another hour.
