Daniel,

I went Black Drum fishing today for a couple of hours at Latimore Shoal. I caught one drum, which was 48" long! A nice release citation!!

Thanks,
Clay

I got a friend who is checked out on the easternshore shoal drum fishing and we will be checking it out in a few weeks.

I have heard that the drum fishing should get better in a few weeks, but how long does it stay hot?

I would say the peak is about 2 weeks of really good fishing.

Daniel-

I fished the green can "buoy 13" near the high rise on Wednesday and caught 3 black drum from about 4:30-7:30. All were caught on sea clams in 24ft of water. We fished the 4th island and caught a mess of rockfish and blues before settling in to drum fishing. I hope this helps.

I fished saturday afternoon with 35 other boats at buoy 13. Stayed about 2 hours and realized that noone had caught a drum. Went to try the red's behind fisherman's island. I got eaten up by sharks and skates but didn't know exactly where to go as I had never been there. Fished till 9:30 or so. Heard of 2 black drum caught that evening between all those boats. Did manage to get into the togs at the third island earlier that day. Got 9 keepers between 3 and 5 lbs. Also played with some small stripers to 20" casting storms between the pylons.

I also fished Saturday evening on the outskirts of the fleet and onle saw 1 drum boated. We did catch about 15 HORSE croakers (se/clam 7/0 circle hook) and had to relocate to get away from them.
