Worked the creek right across the West Landing ramp the last 3 Sundays and topwater action is fair and you can pick up some dinks this way. Shallow running crankbaits and beetle spins catch every thing out there so thats what I use after the topwater bite slows down. I've tried to convince my girlfriend to use these lures in lieu of the rubber lizards that she likes to use. But noooooo....she's as hardheaded as me and insists she's targeting bass only. Last week she got 2 bass to my one striper. Today I cast (crankbait) numerous times to the same point I caught the striper on last week and make the comment "Go ahead, throw your pretty lizard over there, I'm just waking them up for ya". She does and hooks up with a 8lb bowfin which gets her to screaming, which gets me to yelling, which is why we go in the first place.

She got that one and also caught the biggest bass today (on that same pretty lizard). Um, what can I say......I'm a pretty good guide is what I told her!
Gotta love it,
Mike
