I took my boat out for the first time in 6 months last week, it has been on a lot for sale since April. I treated the gas before it was put on the lot. When I took it out it started right up and ran good in neutral but when I throttled up in gear it bogged down and would not do more than 3000 rpms. I'm thinking it might be water in the fuel tank but the fact that it runs great in neutral has me second guessing that. Any theories would be greatly appreciated.

Water in your tank has to show up in your filter .If the motor is at idle it might get enough fuel to run good but at higher RPM the restriction might not allow the pistons to get a enough fuel.Chek your Bowl under your cowling and change your Fuel filter. Check your fuel lines for loose clamps or cracks. Also check your Breather to see if it is clogged .These are easy things to do and will cost you 100 dollars /hour for a Mech. to diagnose. You could also have a fouled Spark plug or a bad coil .

Thanks for the advice, I will run thru everything I can before I take it to a mechanic.
