Iphone 3g/AT&T VS Blackberry Storm/Verizon Opinions?

I'm stuck between getting the Iphone 3g with an AT&T contract or a Blackberry Storm with a Verizon contract. What do you guys think. I know coming in from offshore, everybody with Verizon picks up a signal around the CLT. How does AT&T compare? I've talked with AT&T and the rep. even told me that their service for the Iphone 3g is sketchy. I was wondering if any of you guys have one with an AT&T contract? Not interested in running an "unlocked/broken" Iphone through a different service provider.

For Boats the Boulder is a good choice because it is waterproof and shock resistant. It doesent have all the Gadgetry of a Blackberry though. My Wife and Daughter have the Blackberry Curve it is really nice but hard to dial while doing anything involving a Helm or steering wheel. My boulder will pick up a signal by the tower on really perfict days but 9 times out of 10 it only reaches the CB buoy.It works good on the Eastern shore in the Bay where other services wont get a signal. It also works down the coast to Hatteras. My son has the LG Dare which is a really nice if you like touch screens.

I've got a Boulder and Verizon. After ruining my third Razr by spilling a cup of coffee on the counter NEAR it (not on it) I opted for the water resistant/shock resistant model. As far as coverage, the digital signal is only good for about 8 miles over land, 10 to 12 over the water. The signal actually carries further, but your phone drops the call rather than use the degraded signal. That's one advantage of the old analog phones, that signal could skip a lot further than the digitals can.

Having any of these phones puts you at risk of being labled a "metrosexual"
They all suck after you drop them in the water

Eric, we've fished together before and I think we can both agree it would take a hell of alot more than a cell phone to make me look like a "metrosexual".. LOL... I'd have to do something drastic, like wear pink polo shirts and carry a man bag.

Ryan, you a funny man!
But I just can't see you carring a man purse! And why not equip the Sea Kittens with the finest 3-G telecommunications devices available? They've already got several pair of my most expensive sunglasses, two wallets and a set of keys to my truck. I've lost so much gear over the side I should be getting a Christmas card from PETA!

You should base it on your intended use. If business related (i.e. Viewing Microsoft docs Excel, Word) or you send MMS (Pictures attached to a text message, 3Gi does not do MMS) the Blackberry is better.
If personal uses like surfing the net, reading web mail or just using it as a phone the 3Gi is more user friendly. And the Application (programs) you can load on the 3Gi is fantastic if you’re into that.
Phone quality is about the same. Although you'll find that the touch screen on the 3Gi is second to none.
Inshore/Town coverage is about the same, but Verizon does have a larger footprint off the coast.
