Hey guys I am looking to buy a new boat. I want something to get up and down the rivers with and also get out to the CBBT with ease. Something with a shallow draft and can also take a wave or two. I am looking at the triumph made by trophy (I think). heard it was a pretty safe boat. Only want to spend around 20k or a tad bit above that. Any suggestions? Please help. Thanks in advance

My friend has a triumph for sale currently. 21ft, 150 yamaha and is selling for around 15,000and may be willing to negotiate. It was a great boat we used it to striper fish in the bay, spade fishing at the light tower. He is selling because he bought something to go offshore with. I think he goes by tduling on this board. you may be able to send him a message or send me one and I can give you contact information if you are interested. The boat is in VA Beach.

I have a buddy that has the 21 foot. It is one tough boat, will take rough water pretty good as far as the ride but it's a bit wet. Because it's not very tall you will get wet and rough water.. He has a 200 HP Yamaha on it and it will run about 40+ wide open..

Smittroc,

As my marketing director (Steel Reel) said biggrin.gif, I do have a 2003 Triumph 210 CC for sale. The boat is posted in the VBSF classified section with a few pictures. It has a Yamaha 150hp Salt water Series II 2 stroke with S/S prop, Garmin 182 Chart Plotter (w/blue chart chip), Garmin FF and ICOM VHF with 7 ft Galaxy antenna & life time hull warrenty.

We've used it extensively from the CBBT out to the light tower, and a few trips to the Fingers and Norfolk Canyon as well (on those "really" nice summer days). I've also dragged it down to Key West more than a few times for both offshore and inshore flats fishing. With the engine trimmed up you can get into (and out of) places that you think you shouldn't be able too with a 21 ft boat. Triumph also makes a 19 ft CC that would work for the rivers/bay and inshore ocean trips. I'm not sure either model is in the 20K range these days, but I'll do a price check this weekend's boat show up here at the Dulles Expo. I purchased mine at Seaport Marine in Suffolk and had a great experience. Although I heard that the dealership has been sold since the last time I was there.

I'm a big Triumph fan & I took a real serious look at the Triumph 23ft CC last year before I ended going with the 26 Scout for a few extra feet and twins for those long afternoon rides back to Rudee from the Canyon. If you have a questions about Triumph please let me know. And as a shameless marketing plug, you're always welcome to come down to Sandbrige and take a look at the 2003 210.

Tom

Tom,

Thank you very much for the info and also thank you for the boat sale offer but as you live you learn! I have an older boat, like really old, and i have come to the conclusion that I want a new boat so therefore I know where it's been and what it's been through! Not saying you don't take care of your boat or nothing but I just have a better piece of mind knowing that I was the first to put gas into a boat and bring it back home. The boat I own now was only 2500 bucks and it was a learning tool. But all in all I am trying to buy new. The thing I like about triumph is the saftey. I don't want a boat too big tho because of storage prices. no more than 21ft will do me swell. So is Scout just as good?

Scout in my opinion are great boats. I have a 21ft, Tom has the 26ft and my brother in law has 18ft all CC's. I absolutely love my boat. My 21 ft is a 2003 CC with a 200hpdi yamaha on it. I have not had any problems with it. I have had to have 2 minor gel coat repairs in the deck and scout took care of that. I have had communications directly with Scout, I wasn't pleased with the dealer ship where i boat the boat, and they were awesome. The boat rides great and has a small draft as well. It has a 95 gallon gas tank and has great fishability. Last I checked, I think you will be looking in the 30,000 range for a 21 ft. Great boat and I think you would be happy with the scout.

Smittroc,

I checked out the boat show up here last weekend. However, no Triumph dealers were in attendance.

When I bought my Triumph in 2003, both Key West & Sea Hunt boats were right around the same price point. Key West wasn't at the show either, but Sea Hunt had a 20' center console with an aluminum tandum axel trailer listed as a boat show special for $23,500. Taxes, tags, rigging and electronics were extra.

As I said in my last post I haven't been to down Seaport Marine Services for awhile, but I believe they still carry/sell both Triumph and Key West. You may want to check out their web site to get an idea of the current prices and get a comparison of Key West & Triumph.

Here's the link: http://www.seaportmarineservices.com

Good luck with your search & cash is always a great bargining chip. tongue.gif

You might want to consider Commonwealth Boat Brookers. Here is their site.

I don't know if the Raleigh boat show has happened yet, but a couple years ago, there were 2 Triumph dealers there and overall I thought the prices were well worth the trip. We attended just about every show around that year and that one stood out from the pack. We were really close to buying a new triumph but ended up with the used Seafox instead due to finances and not a lot of experience with that class of boat so put off getting anything brand new. Good Luck!

Concur on both Commonwealth Boatbrokers & Adams and Durvin as alternatives. I made an ammo run down to Green Top a couple of weekends ago and there was an impressive selection of previously enjoyed boats of all shapes and sizes on the lot at Commonwealth.

You have to be careful with CBB- Of course, when buying a repo boat you have to look good- I see a lot of skegs worn off on pavement when they pick them up but they ticked me off when I signed a contract and was told it was a done deal but when I went back to give them a check the next day, they had sold the boat out from under me. Screw me once...
