I've always experienced the same down there for billfish. If the bite is at 100 fathoms at the 900 one day, that group of fish could be at the 000's or behind the Rockpile the next day. Find out where the bite was out of Morehead to see when the next wave of fish is coming. Until then, keep following that group of fish north.
You are right, Ford.
If watch the temp shots over a period of a few days -the change is just amazing - even in 12 hours - so the current/wind effect is significant. I think the "on-board" temp update is going to be needed to help. The shot the night before is helpful but often when you get planned numbers the water is gone. So then I m thinking "wonder which way?".
It is no wonder why those charter guys down there are so good. They basically start with a clean sheet of ocean every day, read the water and find a group of fish. Not easily done consistently by an amature.
