Fishing Back Bay surf tomorrow and wanted to get some fresh bait, so Matt (room mate), myself and JJ (aka Johnjdan) headed out to lynnhaven to try and catch some croaker, blues, and whatever else we could find.

Got there and the tide was slack and not much going on. picked up a few small blues, few round head, few small flounders, but no croaker. soon as the tide started going back out, all we could catch was croaker, which was fine by me. ended up bringing home about 25 small croaker, blues, and round heads.

it started raining about 20 minutes after we got there, and didn't stop till we left. then we got home to clean the truck out....and it started to rain again.

glad to hear u got some bait, do you attempt to keep them alive or do you just freeze and de-thaw them the next morning?
And good luck tomorrow i should be around lesner fishing tomorrow night, havent decided if i wanna take the drive out there yet with a forecast of rain.
Also, any spot around lesner i like to catch 2-3 spot for bait before really fishing and was wondering if i could get them pretty easy using the artificial bloodworm.
Thanks,
Jeff
A man has the right to make his own decisions, so im deciding to go fishing

I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day,
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray
when in the Lords's great landing net and peacefully asleep.
That in his mercy
I be judged Big enough to keep!

It was nice to get out and fish with you guys, the last time we fished together was at "my spot" jumping-smiley-027.gif , anyways, a fun night, even though it was raining the whole time.

Thanks for the report Andrew, fished Rudee a little yesterday (FREAKING DREDGE) mid channel where the restaurant used to had all the smart Flounder far far away from the CHURNING TEETH of the dredge. Hopefully things will be better this Sunday/week coming up. Not much on the oceanfront fish wise either. Moon phase a little got the fish hiding for the time being. May see you near the inlet(s) over the next couple of days. Tight Lines yikes.gif

Jeff - we froze everything last the other night. if i get mullet and i know im going to use them in the next day or so ill keep them alive. i have one of those bucket bubbler things and i gotta say, they work very well. ive had all kinds of stuff live for a day or two in my living room. didn't see any spot thursday night, caught one decent one last weekend. so right now the spot are far and few between. i have been catching tiny ones in the cast net the past few times i have gone, like the 2inch range...

Andrew; went to Rudee last night for 2 hours, caught 7 Flounders from 4-18.5", 1 20" Flounder and could not give it away to anyone, so took it home and gave it to my buddy. He hooked it up and got some real sweat strips for tonight for himself to use on the incoming tide.

Here is an interesting change of events this year I have been finding out. My motto is usually costumed-smiley-089.gif "Bigger bait, Bigger Flounder", but so far this year my big fish have been caught on 1-2.5" minnows and Spot, although my 24incher (biggest so far) was caught on a costumed-smiley-089.gif 6 inch Bluefish belly strip. Play out this full moon phase through Wednesday, the inlet should be HOT HOT HOT, because the current is running 2-4 knots on the full tide.

I am on a streak though 7 trips for keepers so far has produced 6 trips with keepers, the night the dredge was in the channel was the only Skunk so far. My keepers so far have been:

19", 19", 20.5", 20", 22" 22.5", 23", 23", and my largest to date 24". Tight Lines action-smiley-033.gif
