Well 2 friends and I were suppose to drive down to NC yesturday for some surf fishing but before even leaving norfolk my friends radiator cracked so we decided to just rent a carolina skiff from the marina on base.(Wont ever do again) It was $70 dollars for the day but u had restrictions like we werent allowed to pass the tunnel island north, the hrbt east, or the base pier west, so it made it very difficult to decide were to fish in such a small area in almost all sun. First stopped in the middle of a line a crab buoys and dropped down some bloodworm to catch some spot, we caught 4 spot and 20+ croaker but only kept the spot then moved over to the hrbt to achor in the shade. Fished the gap next to the channel for about a hour with just a couple good bites but nothing big hooked other then croakers. We kept 6 croaker here all over a pound hoping to make fish tacos with them. Then we bounced up around 6 gaps and anchored up again. Put a spot fillet on the slosh and dropped it straight down put the clicker on and in freespool and the clicker started screaming turned and told everyone to put heavier weights on the current is strong and then reeled in my line until about 10 feet away from the boat i see a big striper splashing on top and then put tension on the line. Didnt have a net so ended up lipping him, was 27" so it went in the cooler. Dropped down again and same thing as soon as it hit bottom line was getting ripped off this one was a good fight and was 31" and was difficult to throw back but was definently not a legal fish. No bites for a few more hours so we moved up to were they were repairing the bridge and fished 2 gaps behind them and caught a 26" striper and a 18.75" flounder, the flounder went back because wasnt worth the stretch with a cooler full of 2 striper. Lots of fun although oceana boats are $40 for 4 days with no restriction on where you go, so next time were gonna go there. 2 of the striper were on spot fillets, the 26" and the flounder were on croaker fillets.

A man has the right to make his own decisions, so im deciding to go fishing
I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day,
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray
when in the Lords's great landing net and peacefully asleep.
That in his mercy
I be judged Big enough to keep!
I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day,
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray
when in the Lords's great landing net and peacefully asleep.
That in his mercy
I be judged Big enough to keep!
