Late start to the day, but this one was on a whim. Headed to the first and loaded up on croaker for live bait and headed for Cape Henry. Nice water today, flat with only a minor swell rolling through. No joy off of Cape Henry so we shot over to Fishermans Island and set up there. Dropped the chum bag, seaped some haden milk and waited. Saw one nice Cobia sitting around the boat, but he wasn't hungry. Ended up hooking up 2 times, both good sized Dogfish. Fun fight for my buddy who never caught on, other than that, the kids had a blast swimming, and it was gorgeous out there.

I went swimming off Fisherman's Island some years ago. A friend that flew a small plane in the area saw huge sharks in the surf there. I was later told that the area was a nursery for some variety of sharks. You might want to check this out with VIMS or some other source, before the kids go back into the water there.

I'm no shark expert, but it looks like a sandbar. Definitely not a dogfish.

Thanks for the report.
