First time out this summer. As soon as we left long bay point and passed under lessner bridge we were able to watch the Iwo Jima perform LCAC ops right off the beach and I was reminded how happy I am that I do not have to get underway anymore just to camp out 500 yards from the beach!!!
weather was great, seas were calm, dolphin were everywhere at the island but no red drum to be found. saw Spanish mackerel jumping out of the water every now and than….. The fishing was so bad that 1 fish felt he had to sacrifice itself to give us a sign of hope!!! out of no where a Spanish Mackerel decided to jump in the boat, I have never seen that before.

No drum but it was a great first trip on the water this summer

got to fishermans island 16:30 and left around 22:30

I am still laughing! Did the mack make it into the box and onto the grill or did you return the sacrificial mackeral to the sea?

Just for the record, 14" and 15/per person/per day. Thats all right- if you figured what that fish would have cost per pound after running across to the other side, getting the boat to the water, ice, bait.... you couldn't have enjoyed it that much. I try not to think how much flounder fillets cost me!
