By the way, you can bring your fresh catch to Murphy's and they will prepare and serve it for you. That's GREAT for locals and visitors that Charter. What a great way to dine while on vacation! smilie_daumenpos.gif

That's OK Jeff...have fun.....The Meet and Greets are really not working out....people say they're going and then the same 4 or 5 people show up....couple of new guys faces were there and we had a good time....Tom, the owner of Murphy's was an awesome host for the "event".....REALLY fish friendly bar, they even allow you to bring your own fish and they will cook it up for you right there....

The time it takes to organize these things is not worth the effort any longer...at least that's my take on it, Don may continue to try and get these things going but he's about to get really busy organizing the Blue Water classic which is creeping up on us.....

Have fun in Hawaii Jeff, I"m sure you will....Now I gotta go rig a couple dozen Ballyhoo for tomorrow's fishing expedition !...can't wait....Bob

Dee and I had a great time. Met a few new faces which is always good. Murphy's rocks and Dee and I are always there, with her office across the street it is a great place to have lunch.

But Bob is right the same people are showing for the meet and greets and more people need to come out and meet some of the people on the board. If you have them they will come eventually. See you all at the next one.

Mark,
I must have missed you last night. I got there right at 7 and left about 8:15. I did get to meet a few people last night, but most all of them this was there first time to come. The problem I see is that almost everyone seemed to congregate to the people that they knew, which makes first time people feel a little like they are on the outside. I did meet and talk to KDFarmer for a little while.

A speaker and a couple of how too's would probably united the group. Also Friday night when everybody's fishing Saturday may not be best night. It'll grow!

Hey Guys,

Im new to the forum and I got the email to come out and it was not what I expected. I still had fun and meet some really cool people. I think just a lil more effort should be put into it like have people RVSP and somehow have them called to remind them of the event. I didnt know anyone and had to kind of push myself on everyone to introduce myself to them... just a lil backwards. Im telling everyone I know about this forum because it is really good to have this and believe this could bigger and better! I hope yall dont get fed up and not do this anymore. And maybe members could wear hats, shirts or something so when new people show up that dont feel out of place or just leave because they dont see anything or nobody greets them. Murphys was a great place to have it and food and beer was great! Mark, Don, Bob, and Pops nice to meet yall and look forward to catching fish with yall!!!

M&G was great. Met some new people (always good to match faces with forum names) and renewed old acquaintances. Unfortunately, I don't make many M&Gs because, for years, Friday nites has been dinner with my son and his family. Any way it was a fun nite and happy to see all y'all (wow, I'm starting to pick up the southern lingo lol).

From reading the thread it sounds like a lot of people showed but it wasn't organized so that newbe's could figure out who was who. IM going to get some small campaign style buttons with VBSF on them and some oval VBSF bumper stickers to give out at the next M&G. Don can see that the buttons are available as you come in...........then you'll know whos there for the M&G.

Tony

You may want to talk with Dave Wessner he had some name tags made with the logo on it for some of the meet and greets in the past. Bumper stickers would be cool.

This was the first Meet & Greet I've been able to get to and I was hoping it would be easier for me to figure out who was there from VBSF. My suggestion would be a sign-in sheet and some cheap name tags as I met only a few people by being outgoing and asking some strangers a few questions. Name tags we could write our usernames on would help me a lot. I met a few of you as well as Tom the owner, and I agree with all the other comments.....a real fishy place that I'll be back to for sure. The fish taco spread was just great.

Thanks to the folks that did the organizing, as well as Tom and the staff at Murphys.

Robert

Murphy's is great! Eat lunch there often. Havn't met Tom yet but have talked to him on the phone...mutual friends. Sorry i missed this meet and greet!
I often wonder, do I lure the fish...or do the fish lure me?

I agree 100% with Bob that Murphy's is a class act. Thanks to Tom Mooney (owner) for being fisherman friendly!!
