Left the Lair at around 5:30. Inlet a little choppy but offshore was nice. We ran out about 19mi to a break from 79-82/84. Dropped spread and trolled break. David was telling us how much he would like to catch a Wahoo. Suddenly the shotgun with Get Reel Chugger gets hammered. My buddy David is up and after a little fight a nice wahoo comes into the boat.
Next up was Mike and he had a decent mahi give him one heck of a run. Fish got the flatline Get Reel Conga line. Next up was Ryan who got a small mahi on a homemade seawitch with some flash. Now its my turn. Its been slow approaching about 11am and there's a Bill in the spread. First he hammers Get Reel Chugger (green and chart) then he rips up 2 of my seawitches and finally sets his eye on a Chome chugger jet head with pink and purple squid body. FISH ON! Fish made a heck of a run on the TLD25. Line was humming out and the fish was putting on a great show. Then decided to kamikaze at our boat. I reeled as fast as humanly possible and about 5 mins later we had the fish along side. Brought him in for pictures, and rushed to get him back in the water for the release. Fish away and I am one happy camper. My first! Fished till noon with no more love. We had a few mahi here and there come unglued. Had fun. My crew was GREAT for having never met each other prior to 2:30 this morning. -------------------- “It is when pirates count their booty that they become mere thieves.” William Bolitho
