We made a concious decision to fish for Bluefin on Saturday and stay this side of the cold water break. We started out at the HotDog as the SST chart showed a good temp break, but the water was all green when we got there. Moved north and east to the Southern Finger (AKA the George Trench) and started troling north and east from the tip. All the fish were in the south/west end of that finger in 130 ft of water. We trolled nothing but Islanders on the riggers (Pink/White on the short riggers and Blue/White on the long riggers way back) and plugs on the flat lines. We saw some incredible explosions and shoulder turns confirming they were Bluefin's but we never got one to stay on the line long enough to get boatside. On the way in we passed 4 (charter ?) boats that apparently has just started hooking up just west of the finger on a wreck (Spring Chinken or Dixi Chicken I believe) but it was 4:30 and we had to keep running. I know where I'm going again this weekend. The fish were thick in condensed schools, my sounder was registering 15ft deep when we were over them in the trench. Frustrating ......but the weather, mates and beer were fabulous cool.gif
Good luck if you go.....they are there right now.
