While taking the wife and daughter crabbing in Crab Creek Sunday, I saw quite a few Puppy Drum finning around the marshes. I may even have hooked one on a bottom rig baited with squid (lost it at the boat and couldn't tell whether it was a small puppy or a big croaker). Also, threw artificials (grubs and floating mirrolures) but no luck. What is proving successful in hooking up with puppy drum in that shallow water? Thanks.

Gulp (swimming mullet) on a jig head, redfish magic spinner, or cut fresh mullet on a fishfinder rig have always worked for me. Good luck.
