Got an early start Wed morning, left the dock around 430, plan was to head way south, but last min decided to go a little more north. Ended up around the 400 line again, and worked south. Water inshore was around 72 deg, had to move into 500+fath to find the cleaner water and ended up in 74-75 degrees. Had a small crew of Troy, myself, Dave, Allen, and Rachel. Few bailers caught in some scattered grass lines, and a slow morning again. Hear Matador on the radio hooking Whites like crazy, good job Jake! Finally around 1pm get a blue come up on the blue/white islander on the short rigger. I do a quick drop to him and get him hooked. Allen belts up and we start the chase. I luckily remembered my camera that morning, so we got some vid of the fight, I'll post the link as soon as I get it uploaded. Estimated the fish to be from 350-400 lbs, and was green all the way to the boat. Dave does a quick release after about a 25 min fight, and Allen has his 7th marlin release of the year. Troy was backing down hard, at times we were in reverse @ 6 knots. No other bites for us, but not complaining at all. Trolled inshore to about 65 fath and the water turned green and cold. Picked up and ran in, back at the dock by 630.
