I was surfing yesterday (Thursday) evening at Sandbridge, saw 2 kings in the 4-5 foot class crash some baits 10 yards in front of me as I was duck diving a wave, it was awesome. They are there!
Saw the boat Hot Pursuit pulling baits off the beach that evening, any reports???

King fished on Sat. the 13th and caught two Cobia one 48" and one 38" and a few sharks/bluefish, no King's, I had another boat working with me trying also to no avail, talked to another King fisherman and he had zip. Maybe try later this month, looked like the King's should be there, lot's of bait.

the second u catch a shark gut him and cut his tail off so the meat doesnt get tainted
Thats exactly what I do, show 'em the club and give 'em a minute to cool down then I gut 'em immediately. Most that I've done are pretty easy. Take two slits from just behind each gill set to just behind his anus. Then cut His head off by connecting those two slits. If he's got any size and you don't have a saw or want to lose a finger cut all the way around the backbone and twist and pry his head off. It's easier than you think. Now with a little luck, his head, belly, and guts will all easily come out. Same for the tail as cutting the head off, then use a sharp knife and cut all the fins off. Your left with nothing but meat, I never worry about the skin, until after I've cooked it. Generally I cut it into steaks, marinate or add some oil and spices and throw them on the grill. Good luck to you. How big was it and are you sure it was a blacktip, I have a hard time telling one shark from another but I never met one that wasn't good eating.

I have always simply cut the shark's brain from his spine and gutted him, never bothering to behead them. Im sure doing so is all the better to prevent the meat from being tainted. However, I think if you behead a fish you can run into trouble with the man, I think it is illegal to posess headless fish.
Anyways, I dont know if it is true, but an old man told me that the reason you boat clean the fish in such a way is that if you dont, the fish will piss itself and the urine will soak the flesh. anyone else heard that?

I'm not sure exactly why they say to clean shark right away, but its said to be something about some gland that lets loose and taints the meat. I always try to clean all fish right away, but have kept some for a day and a half, cleaned 'em, ate 'em, and been just fine. I still take the precautions and clean shark right away. I never thought about the man, but there is no size limit on shark so I figure as long as I only have one per person I should be okay. Makes me wonder though...
