Finally, pulled out the old Fender Strat and set the Vibrolux on 10. Penned this out so far.. Come on help me out now.
The Foul Weather Fishin' Blues
I been sittin' by the river...sun ain't gonna shine
Yeah been sittin' by the river...sun he don't never shine
Got them foul weather fishin' blues...ain't nothin' on my line
Mr. Wind he keep on blowin'...waves 'bout four foot high
Yeah Mr. Wind he keep on blowin'...waves 'bout four foot high
Twenty-thirty knots now...make a grown man sit and cry
I'm most near packed and ready...but my mojo's hangin' low
I'm most near packed and ready...but my mojo's hangin' low
I got my motor running...just ain't got no place to go
I been sittin' by the river...wondering lord what can I do
I been sittin' by the river...wondering lord what can I do
Heard old Satan's at the Hot Ditch...with them foul weather fishin' blues
"John Lee" Fishist

You know fishing is slow when you start writing songs about it!! That's some pretty funny stuff!! Might go platinum!!!

Mine is kinda set to the music of "Singin' the Blues" by Guy Mitchell.
Well I never felt more like slingin’ some lead,
But I’m on the couch, my face gettin’ fed.
Oh wind, why do you treat me this way?
My reels been lubed and the rod is hot to trot,
But the clouds hang low and now my day is shot.
Without the sun, I can’t go out and play.
My boats been cryin’ but I’ll be alright,
When the wind breaks, I’ll be fishin’ the lights
Without the sting
Of the driving rain.

I cleaned and shined ... my fishin gear
But it's Christmas time ... and the Rock ain't here
The water's been ... too warm this year
It's Christmas time ... and the Rock ain't here
I'll set and play ... my old banjo
Till the Rock Fish come ... and the wind don't blow
I want to go ... just one more time
Means the wrath ... from that woman of mine
I got the blues ... them no-fish blues
Down in my soul ... I got them no-fish blues
I want to go ... just one more time
But the fish ain' here ... and it's Christmas time
Sang to the tune of "White House Blues" by Doc Watson.
I don't think any of us should give up our day job just yet.
Happy Holidays!!!

You must be an old bluegrasser like me. Been doing it off and on professionally 37 years. I love old Doc's picking but I believe Bill Monroe gets the credit for White House Blues.

Yep.. A Bluegrasser I am - play the banjo a little and the guitar a little less. Bill Monroe did write the song (I think) but I thought if anyone was familiar with it, Doc Watson's version would be better known.

My brother and I formed a band, East Virginia, back in the sixties. I'm retired but he and the band are still going strong. Over the years we recorded six albums/CD's including two for Rounder Records which I believe still records Alison Krauss. Great fun and good people, just like fishing.
