I know you guys here mostly fish open water but has anyone fished around the new bridge they open from port norfolk to portsmouth. Being from New Orleans we fished some bridges when the boat was grounded or especially if the weather was kicking up. They were always good for trout and drum. I figured they dredged that hole pretty deep to get those pileing in, so I was just wondering if anyone gave it a shot just to see.

Question about another spot

I believe the area you are talking about is the West Norfolk Bridge. VDOT just finished wasting a bunch of money adding lanes to help more people arrive at the mid-town tunnel bottleneck at the same time.
That area has always been good for Croaker and is as good a place as any to start fishing for them (especially when it's windy). It's about 5-10 minutes from the ramp at PTown City Park.

I was stationed in New Orleans for 3 years about 10 years ago. I got up here and I take my son and wife out to the bridge several times a year. If you want to catch spot and croaker that is an excellent place to be when they are running. I haven't been out there yet this year, but probably will this week sometime. Put your boat in at Ptown City Park. You have about a 3-5 min boat ride. There is an oyster bed in that area so be careful not to anchor in it. It is marked. I use squid and shrimp for croakers and bloodworms for spot. Tight Lines and good luck! Maybe I will see you out there sometime.
