Fished the CBBT saturday night into sunday. Started at the parking lot of 1st island all the way to the fourth. Fished the shadow lines all the way out, my buddy was throwin his fly line and was just killing them! We took turns working the boat with the other fishing off the bow. I was using my light spinning rig with a storm 4" spot lure and was having way to much fun! Put 2 nice fat 24" one's in the box, along with the sea lice that were riding along with them.

We had a bait box full of bunker, but just could'nt seem to stop ripping the lips of the schoolie's long enough to get serious about trying to find some monsters! Anyone else find them out there that night? laughing-smiley-011.gif

I was out Saturday around the 1st small boat channel and caught about 20 to 30 schoolies averaging around 17" (birds in the 100's working the area). All the fish are looking really healthy this year... I brought home 4 right around 20". The day started out pretty rough but towards sun down the water just layed down nice and pretty. I'd like to say thanks to the guy who let us in on the bite if he is on this board. I didn't catch his name but still appreciate the info. It sure helped me turn a slow fishless day into a great day.

We made our way clear to the Kippotopeak end of the bridge, out of the little wind there was and sat in the eddy line of the outgoing tide. It was like a kindergarden class of rock's just hanging out. Moved back out 100 yards into the current and the bite just wouldn't quit. .... tons-o-fun! Landed back at the dock @ 1:30 a.m. sleepy...

Be out on Friday with me 2 boys.

Cheers,
Greg

What was your buddy using on his fly line. Looking to go out tomorrow night with my father - He is eager to try to catch a striper on his fly line. He is visiting from upstate New York, it would be his dream to wrestle a striper with his fly fishing pole. Any advice??

Some sort of streamer that looks like a glass minnow/silverside would be my first try.

Sorry for the late reply that did you no help for the weekend! Just returned to No.VA from my Friday trip.

Eva K has it right, he throws a dark haired fly (bugged eyed too!) with minnow strips in it. Like i said we would work the shadow lines of the bridge and it was just about automatic, that night at least!

Wish I could say we had the same kinda day Friday, but fell into the same thing everyone else did, NO TIDE! Did run into some birds @ Thimble shoals on the way back in and had a little fun.

However the day was not lost when my 6 year old son wanted to go back out fishing after we dropped off our mates @ the dock, even after getting sick out there! Who am I to say no? so just ran over to the hbt dropped anchor to drop a bottom rig for a spell. Well the fish Gods blessed him within 5 minutes with a keeper puppy drum! Pulled anchor 30 minutes later, headed back with dinner in the box. Life was good! bow.gif

cheers. food-smiley-004.gif
