Remember that current is horizontal movement and tide is vertical. High tide doesn’t necessary mean slack current.

That is very interesting. I have never heard it put that way. Is there a way to get accurate current info. I always have checked the tidal info and assuming tide and current was he same thing. That is why I view this forum daily. Thanks for the 411.

Go to http://www.vbsf.net/TIDES_INFO.htm
check the box marked currents and then put in where you want to know. For example, I often put in Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, it will then give you an option for where along the CBBT. 1st island use Thimble Shoals Channel. Others I use, Lynnhaven Inlet, Cape Henry, etc. You will then get a plot of the currents and listing of times of ebb (outgoing) and flood (incoming). Just make sure the box for Currents is checked and not tides, two different things. Also it will only give you predictions for today and tomorrow. Anything further I just add an hour for each day, I think it is really only 50 min each day but close enough. You may also have to look for close areas if you put in one that doesn't have a match. Example the HRBT does not have a prediction so I use Sewells Point. I have found this site to pretty accurate. Hope this helps.
