I took Sandy's sister's(who live in NJ) neighbors nephew (tim) rockfishing today, along with AndrewK. Tim is a new member to of our Atlantic fleet, just got out of Boot camp a few months ago. He has never been fishing, much less caught a Virginia stripped bass.

As soon as we came out of Little Creek we saw birds and 3 boats working them. We got inline and boated a nice dink. Tim is no longer a rookie.

We then pulled lines and ran to the third (ocean side) birds everywhere but all the boats were bay side, we began pulling anywhere between 18 and 35 inch fish in. Kept 4 of around 10.

Left them biting (dumb) to run to ES and see if we could get bigger fish. Found tons of birds working about 2 miles off the light, nothing but big blues and a shark mad.gif . Ran back to 3rd and started pulling dink after dink. Got 2 more in the box to complete the limit and headed in.

Tims first Rock

He even got the biggest fish

Nice job Eric. I wish I could have been there. We tried to get out but had some boat problems and were stuck at the dock. So, I spent the day trying to figure out why my money pit would not start and was so disgusted I didn't even want to think about fishing...much less read about everyone else's fishing. My disgust cost me my maiden ride on RollTide. Keep em tight...I am out of commission for a couple of weeks.

Sorry to hear that Brett, it does not sound like it is too bad. Stripper season is just getting started.

I only kept one fish for myself it was a 35 inch fish. The meat was less white than I have ever seen, even after being cooked. The meat just looked and tasted better than I remember. The meat was more clear and had a pink look to it. No joke, I even ate some raw.

I had a blast yesterday! Thanks to eric again for taking me and Tim out. I caught my biggest striper ever, and i got to help a newbie into this sport catch several nice fish and the biggest of the day. not to mention it was a great day out on the water.

Forgot to mention, caught one fish on the mojo, all other on chartruese 25's. We sold out on the chart after the one we had out caught the first 5 fish.

We also found whole speckled trout in the fish box, they had been swallowed whole by the stripper. If they were just a tad bigger we would have filleted them too.
