Took my buddy Willie out today for some fish.

Left Little Creek at 08:00, rods in the water and first 3 fish in the boat by 09:15. Took until about 12:00 or so to get the 4th keeper in.

Pulled a 4 pole spread again. 1 wire line (65yds with a mini white umbrella rig, 20 oz). 1 spider wire (65 yds 18 oz full umbrella chartruese) 2 full umbrella rigs (90 yds 16 and 18 oz full umbrella rigs chartrues and white).

Brought back 4 fish, 2 43", 1 33" and 1 32".

Lots of throw backs but seemed to catch the bigger fish going a bit faster than normal (3.5kts). When we went slower the smaller guys drove us nuts.

Overall pretty busy pulling a 4 pole spread with just 2 guys. Recommend at least 3 onboard. I lost a fish at the side of the boat that is the biggest fish I have ever seen. Broke off a 75lb leader from umbrella rig to the bait. If you catch a nice one with a chartruese hook in him he is mine biggrin.gif

Sorry for some reason can't get the picture to post. Will try later.

Nice report Marty. Sorry to hear about the big one. Thanks for the info today. We fished CH to the Ramada from 0700 until 1300. Had a great early morning bite when we first got there with tons of birds working put a nice 25lb fish in the box and released another 40". The bite slowed a bit but we managed another 4 fish between 30-35", kept two and released two. Caught a bunch of schoolies (25-28") using light tackle and another few on the stretches. Grey Ghost Stretch 25 seemed to have the most action followed by the Chartreusse. Caught a nice fish on the mojo trailing a 12" Storm (chartreusse) but never go it in the boat due to a netting error. Looked to be over 40" but they always look bigger in the water biggrin.gif . All in all a good day, kept three fat fish and enjoyed some nice weather. I'm hoping to be out there on Monday if the weather cooperates.

Whaler,

Great linking up with you today. Maybe next time we will actually get a visual on each other biggrin.gif

Going out Monday. Give a shout if you are gonna be out also.

sad-smiley-047.gif Marrdro...gosh....Had your name and called for you. Had 71 Whaler's phone number-took it with me (got it from one of the postings)...almost called. Wish we had.
Took my son out who came into town. We caught every shark in the sea. Fished 12 hours with nothing. Started at 4a then heard of a bite from Hooked-Up sad-smiley-047.gif off of Smith Island. Went there but missed it. Headed back to 4a, then CH, then Ramada, ......and it goes on and on. Always too late.
Lesson....next time I will call!
I did call on the radio for those on this listing....but to no avail. I am thinking we also need to go back to our taller antenae.,....we do not seem to be getting as good a coverage as we had on our old boat with the tall antenae.

I hope I can convince our son to head out with us again. You know his parents talked about all these fish we had been catching! He has not caught more than a spot...and a small one at that....oh yeah...let me now forget all of the sharks he caught yesterday! Sorry...I am lamenting!

Linda,

Sorry I missed your call. I thought I heard someone else calling but my buddy said that he heard something else other than Marrdro. Agree with your idea about a full antenna. You get better propagation off of them than the shorter ones.

We are going out again on Monday. If you get out give me a call. I will have my brother (lots of experience fishing) and Willie (beginner) so I won't be doing it all alone biggrin.gif

Like Whaler said, the bait was really only hot and heavy once in the morning. Had to work for the last one.

Great report yourself! And I agree with trying to troll with just 2 onboard, it truly is a chore, especially when trying to work in the fleet!
