smilie_daumenneg.gif Got to the boat about 9 a.m. warmed her up, put on my new decals, then we had a confrence....All the while the ssw wind building to more
than 15knts, probably closer to 20..Decided to go grab a late breakfast and see
whats develops..Back at the boat around 11..Wind really whipping now..Took a
vote and it was unanamous!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lets pass this day up..Basicaly it was my call
and I chose not to take an A$$ whipping today at the hands of the mighty Atlantic.
As I have gotten older, I must admit I can`t take it like I use to, but the thing
to do today was to save gas, brusies, and sore backs and knees..I guess I must be turning into a whimmpy old fart, but none my crew today disagreed with me.
We will just wait for some better conditions..Hated to miss a 73 deg. day on the
water in Jan..The next day will be much colder I`m sure, but thats what we need
anyway..Maybe Thursday???????

Skid,
We went out today on BillableOurs, just the wife and I. Got lines in off Cape Henry about 0900, a 2' chop on the ride out from Little Creek, built to 3-4 defined swell off the Beach. Stayed out of the mass of boats building closer to the Beach between the Ramada and Cape Henry Green Can. Marked fish and bait, nithing. Mass of birds start working in that area 1 mile off the Beach, hundreds of birds and about 100 boats. Picked up 6 fish 24-27" and had one legal fish that we brought home for dinner. The Chart. Stretch 25s hit 5 out of 7 times. Had knockdowns on the Chart Mojo and Chart Umbrella Rig but they didn't get to the boat. The ride back in around the corner was chaotic 4' swells at the mouth of the Bay and didn't settle until the we passed through the CBBT. Same reports from others back at the dock. You can pick up 34-36" fish if you're willing to wait it out, and the schoolies are fun on the lighter outfits. Good Luck.
Tight lines.

Capt. Skid

I went today and was rewarded with three nice fish. A 39, 37 and a 32 two were caught on chart mojos and the other was caught on a chart daisy chain and then we also had a plenty of throw backs. It was a rougher ride back than it was on the way out. We left around nine and started back around 12:00 to the lynnhaven inlet. I was trying to post pictures but ut did not work.

Looks like I made the right decision not to venture out..One of my crew is a newbie and I don`t think he would have faired too well today especially on the
way back to LC. 4ft, hmmm, it would have made for an interesting trip back to
say the least. Glad u and ur bride got some catching done..I bet Billable Ours handeled things pretty well.. 36 vs 23, do the math..I really don`t need a fishing
fix that bad yet..

Skid/Dave,

Elected to get out early when the winds weren't as bad. Paid for it on the ride back but boated some nice fish (see my post).

Dave, I stuck an apology in there for you.

I also made the call to cancel and from what I hear I'm glad I did. A 17' Whaler in 3-4' seas is not fun. She'll get you in but you'll feel it for the next few days. biggrin.gif

WE made it out, end up south by golf ball birds diving like mad TONS of bait
manadged around 10 fish but only 2 keeper 1-28" 1- 34" The wind was sure wicked
but managable close to the beach, we could drift about 3 knots Aboutr 2:30
left and went to CH, condition were a good 4ft here did get one dink on dasiy chain
Also caught a small shark on a white parachute which also got us the keepers today. By 4:30 the winds died down and made it back to Rudee and was greeted
by a whale feeding in front of the inlet Where we drifted and casted some jigs and my buddy caught a bird wrapped him up like Batman did to the bad guys Do we
get a release citation for that?
All in all gald to be on the water it had been a couple weeks and thats to long. fishing4.gif

Fished around LIP today, kind of slow but lots of bait and birds, and not to rough. 6 fish total to 43".
I often wonder, do I lure the fish...or do the fish lure me?

Went out with Mark(VaBch1117) and Jason yesterday. Had a slow day in all. Started out by the ramada got a few throwbacks at about 25" and 1 keeper at 32" and that was all we had all day. We ran down to Sandbridge and saw tons of birds but no fish, then back up to the golfball and tons of birds and a whale but no fish, we then made a final run back to CH when the seas were really rough by now and not many other boats around, still no fish! All in all it was a rough day on the water and only a little fish to show for it.
