Posted 14 April 2007 - 02:37 PM

Fished friday the 13th with Todd, Craig, Tom, Matt, and my buddy Pat on board the Nancy K out of hatteras harbor.
Me Pat and Matt drank on the dock Thursday with The Hatteras Bunch and saw the only 2 boats that went out that day (left at 10:30) come back with slim pickings. One boat(the godspeed) had 2 junior blackfins, and one YFT.The other boat had 2 YFT. Thursday was 10ft with 6 seconds intervals.
We checked in to the motel there at Hatteras harbor, Did i mention that we had a 1/2 gallon of Capt Morgan??? Well we drank off that, I went to bed at 11:00. While Todd and Matt decided they wanted to try their sealegs after a hard nights drinking. They messed with me all night !! I knew though that revenge would be mine the next day !! angry-smiley-013.gif
Met Ej at the boat at 6:00, Under way in rank conditions. 7-8 swells and sloppy. Wind was 30knots out of teach's .We pressed on ! Fished somewhere where i had no idea where we were for a while. picked up one BLT YFT(barely legal tuna) then about 30 minutes later..Triple knockdowns with Gaffer dolphin ! .
Sea's calmed down about 12:30. We went to the 230 line and it was on ! We fished hard and got 4 nice wahoo's and another YFT about 25lb class. Had 2 wahoo breakoffs and Pat missed a Lunker YFT(don't stop cranking). Then a nice calm ride back.
Oh ///Did i mention that Todd was puking the whole time we fished !!!! VENGANCE IS BITTER SWEET !! angry-smiley-013.gif
The other boats who fished the 230 line earlier had great catches of 40-50lb class YFT. But No wahoos ! Dons Wahoo slayer got demolished !!! They ate the spoon of it ! Thanks again for the rigs don, The hatteras fleet know knows the power of get reel lures !
Had a great crew and a fun time. Thanks guys for coming and lets do it again sometime.
Todd, Did you learn a lesson?? food-smiley-005.gif = vomit-smiley-007.gif

Captn Fatbeard ..Out !

Jeff,
Great work Man! Glad you got into the fish. action-smiley-033.gif Don called me and said that you are spreading the gospel about Get Reel Lures. They produce, no doubt about it. Maybe Don will take us fishing on his boat when he is rich and famous...won't be long.
Tight lines!

Pretty work Jeff. And I just left Don and Neal (Wired Up) in Hatteras. They stayed on the dock while Todd (TMBeck) and crew headed to the Rockpile this morning. Hopefully Todd and his son got into the fish!

C-note,
Jeff told me they had the lure running off a planner at first and then just ran it as normal. It has a 10oz head, so it will run sub-surface. I had it rigged with 225# 49 strand cable.

I've run it highspeed...16-18 knots...while fishing on "Billable Ours" with a 16-20 oz cigar trolling weight in front of it...runs great.
