Ok the Maryland side of this form is a little on the weak side for post? But I plan on being out there Saturday for the opener. Heading out of Breezy Point, fishing the antenna's to Parker Creek. Look out for debries.

That's if I get the boat ready on Friday. Just need a washing and install a fuel/water seperater. Seems a must have with this new fuel requirement. Boat ran a little off last year. Had it checked out through the my dealer a few weeks ago and tuned. For $450 they say all is good to go.

Work and this crapy weather has been my problem with getting out the last week or two for some preseason shake down. Work is really being a pain!

Will post some results if I get out, for these Maryland folks, if any read. Hope to get down to VB very soon for some Tog and flounder fishing. And try for some spade as well.

My problem is, most of my fishing buddies are from Maryland ( Bums ). Hope to make a meet and greet down there soon.

Mike

I agree about the posts. Season starts on saturday and nobody on this part of the board is talking. I'm going out Saturday and Sunday. I don't care how bad the weather has been or how the fishing will be, I'll be on the water. I can't wait!! I'm going out of Chesapeake Beach both days. I have cleaned the boat, checked all the safety equip., lights all work etc, etc. Plan on going through all the tackle today. fishing4.gif

I'll be heading out this weekend as long as the weather is OK. My 20 foot center console doesn't provide much protection from the elements.

Looking forward to it, but if my last few years are any indication, I'm going to be throwing back some fish in that 35 - 41 inch slot. That slot accounts for about 2/3 of my catches.

Forgot to mention, I'll be going out of the South river. Usually fish from Matapeake to Thomas Point to Bloody Point.

I'll be fishing off point no point to point lookout near the eastern side. Look for a 24' Wellcraft hardtop rigged like a 50'er with a crazy man at the helm! I feel certain Sat is the day I will finally get that fiddy pounder to mount over the fireplace! Good luck to all. yourock.gif

Man, I can't wait. I did not get to fish alot last year but managed to catch a 400 lb Blue Marlin. The boat is tuned and waxed. All I have left to do is adjust my new radar. klap_smiley.gif

Good afternoon to you all,

Does the Maryland Rockfish season open on Saturday? If so does that include below 301 bridge to the bay? I have Va. Regulations and all they say is May 1-15 is trophy season in coastal waters. Is there a website in Maryland I can look at? Please let me know and good fishing to all!

Thanks
Rusty

See the above site. this is from the Maryland DNR. The Potomac River is closed. Only the main portion of the bay to Virginia line is open the 21st.

Virginia opens May 1st

Thanks for Maryland regs link. I don't know why they state no tributaries on the first part of there regulations and if you keep reading it says you can fish from RT301 bridge to Maryland & Va. tributaries downstream from the bridge???? During the same time period April 21- May 15.This is very confusing and you almost have to be a lawyer to fish anymore. But it looks like a good weekend to go fishing and it's a little to far to get to the Bay from Aquia Creek so I might try my luck from Rt 301 to Cobbs Island. With gas prices the way they are you can only go so far with the boat. I will probably be out there Sunday to fish. And if I catch something worth while I will keep you all posted. Thanks for the information and the best of luck to you fishing this year.

I'm getting ready for offshore fishing and striper fishing so I'm planning on making a long run out of it from Turkey Point up North down to around the Chester River. I just bought my boat this last winter and want to make sure it will run out good before I go offshore. Weather looks good so far so I'll be there.

Dad went out of Solomons today with his buddies and caught 4 stripers biggest being 41in. They also pulled in some umbrella rigs they caught on the bottom how crazy is that to catch a nice unbrella rig that had storm and the trailer was a parchute. they kept it and one of his friends is going to use it . wasn't out that long so it was pretty good for that time period. good luck

It appears that this year the fishies are rising with the roosters & getting their fill by about 7:30. Most fish are being caught during the morning hours between 6am & 8am. I may just have to readjust my sleeping habits cry_smiley.gif I prefer to sleep in on the weekends ( 'till about 7,) but this means I don't get the lines in the water until around 9 & thats just too late for the bite. mad.gif

I heard that the fishing picked up some in the Potomac this weekend, i was going to go on Sunday but the Marine Forcast said that there was 2-3 ft waves on the Potomac, just my luck i ran down to the water that after noon just out for a drive and it was nearly clam. I guess i will try in the afternoon on Tuesday or Wednesday. If any one is out give me a shout on 68.(Firenut)
