Good place to take the kids on the James?

Any good spots on the mid to lower James where I can anchor, drop a few star traps and hand lines? Somewhere simi sheltered from the wind/swells. The little ones are asking about crabs and how to catch them.

BTW, Where is the fresh/saltwater cut line in the James? I live on the Appomattox in Colonial Heights and last year I caught a 8" flounder and saw 10-15 little blue crabs around my dock. It seemed strange for them to be up this far. But they are both bottom huggers and saltwater is heavier than fresh.
