My rambling thoughts while board at work over lunch:
1. The different forecast sources don't agree with each other yet so this means they don't know squat yet.
2. Don't even look at the weekend weather forecast until the Thursday afternoon update.
3. If you want to go fishing and have your kitchen pass approved from the admiral, plan your trip, get your crew together, organized your tackle and bait, ect. Far easier to cancel a trip if the weather is bad than to put on together Friday night because the forecast just improved.
4. Many days are a coin toss for your boat...sometimes you have to stick your bow out of the inlet to see if the conditions are OK for your boat. No disgrace in turning around and taking the crew to eat pancakes instead.
5. The baltimore to hatteras canyon segment is too big an area to have any accuracy. When you get close, use intellicast see why it might be blowing at Hatteras or Baltimore but nice out of VB. Fishweather is cool because it can give a forecast for an individual buoy so I look at the VB buoy forecast.
6. If you are waiting for the no threat of pop-ups storms, sunny skies, variable winds, seas 2 foot or less, you may never go offshore fishing. Again, no disgrace in turning around. Get XM or Sirius weather for your chartplotter if you want updates on the water including tracking storms.
