Heading out tonight for some puppy drum in the islands behind the Lesner. I saw some good reports early this week.
I'm going to go with fishbites, i've got a few different kinds. Crab flavor has worked best in the past, and I have some new Chartruse ones I'm going to try.
I usually rig these like so
----20lb test-----2oz egg sinker----red bead----double eylet----50lb leader-----hook
Seems to work pretty well.
I did buy a bag of Chartruse 4" GULPs last week, and have heard good things, but I'm not quite sure how to rig them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Wish me luck! I'll report tomorrow.

Dang. Complete bust. Did get a few croaker, but no puppy drum like I was hoping for. The current was just too strong for my trolling motor, and it's way too shallow for me to run the big motor, so we just anchored in a couple of places.
I'm going to try the tunnel islands in the AM. We'll see.

Rig 'em like you would a bass bait. I use a gold 3/0 hook and thread it through the body of the gulp until the head of the gulp will cover the snelled part of he hook. The hook point should come out around the mid-point of the gulp body.
Good luck!
