Started trolling from Cape Henry to Southeast of the tower. 2 Drone Spoons on planers, 2 small Clark spoons on the outsides and and one more in the shotgun spot way back. Right off the bat one knockdown after another. Blues at first then Skipjack Tuna or maybe Bonita I'm not sure which. We caught five of them total and one broke off at the boat. It was a decent fish. Too bad we missed that one. About 25 fish total by this time. Trolled around the tower a few times with one knockdown but didn't come tight. Posted up at the tower and and tried for the Amberjack bite. Live spot on but nothing. The divers there said they were there hanging out at about 15 feet. Waited out the storm and made it back to the dock by dark. Great day on the water

Nice job...sounds like some good action. This is about the time for Fat Alberts to showing up near shore. Great fighters on light tackle.

Congrats. Can you eat them?

I hope you cut them so they would bleed when you caught them. I know you can poach them and make a "tuna salad"...fairly good. Good luck.

That false albacore would be put to MUCH better use as strip baits for flounder, chunked for sea bass bait and minnow trap bait!

Ok, this is for those who have not tried eating False Albacore. MMMMMMMMMM Good. Just sauteed it in the pain for about two minutes each side after marinating in a Horseradish Wasabi style sauce. Topped it with a Jalapeno/onion/lemon salsa in white vinegar and man it was good. If anyone wants the recipe and has the cahoonas to try it I will be glad to give it up. Don't knock it till you try it.

For the marinade get you some horesradish wasabi sauce or if you can't find that get some horseradish and soy sauce and mix it to your liking. Add some salt and pepper and it makes a good marinade. If the wasabi is to much for you just use your favorite fish marinade. Let marinade for an hour or so.

Butter up a hot frying pan and throw the fillets in for about 2 1/2minutes each side. If the pan is hot enough it won't take long to cook.

The salsa is what makes the flavor your looking for.

1 medium size sweet vidalia onion cut in wedges
8 jalapeno chiles take out the seeds or I like to use pickled cayenne peppers and jalapenos
2 banana peppers again take out the seeds
3 tablespoons fresh cilantro chopped up if you have it if not skip it who cares
3/4 cup white vinegar
2 teaspoons sea salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

Throw all this in a food processor and pulse blend it. It's best a little coarse and not a total paste. If you like lemon cut a large lemon in half and squeeze the juice into the salsa and some on the fish

Enjoy

With that recipe you could substitute cardboard for FA. biggrin.gif
