I did a water temp comparison between Mar. 04 and Mar 05 we are 3 to 4 degrees below last year. Last year this time the water temps were 45 in the mid part of the month and pushing 50 towards the end of the month.

But things can change quickly? I believe Currents and wind mostly control our water temperature, and they can move in a hurry. Unfotunatly they can flip our thermocline and cool our surface temp all summer also.

I talking about average seasonal temps. that trigger fish to do their thing.Fluctuations from upwelling, runoff, cloudcover, winds, Etc. are to be expected. The Air temperature warms the water for the most part, the longer warmer days of Summer coincide with warmer sea Temperatures.

i wish they didnt call it "global warming", its more like global climate change, as the poles get warmer they lose their snow cover, the darker unsnow covered ground gets even warmer then the earth's natural temperature balancing act gets screwed up, which would include areas with drought and higher than usual temps, areas with rainy cooler weather. even the gulf stream that carries warm water up north might get messed up. it's kind of like that bad movie when the world froze overnight in slow-motion. the non-tree hugging folks in the pentagon have made some early plans about nations fighting over water shortages. who knows, probably wont be too serious in our lifetimes, but its something to think about for the ones we're leaving it to.
in the short term, its prolly just sucky weather, it'll get better megabite.

Yep air temp is low, but some payback for the mild winter i guess. Speaking of guessing, do we actually pay weather men? I have a bad habit of checking weatherchannel.com, it is the weather equivilent of the magical 8 ball.

Its no real wonder that the water temps are a little low. If you look at the average air temps for previous years and compare them to this years Feb and March temps, you will see that they are almost 10-15 degrees lower on most days. That is a big change, a 40 degree day on the water is a heck of a lot colder than a 55 degree day.
