It took us 3 hours to get good bait. We left out of LC at 0800 and tried the inlet for spot and croaker, none there. Went to the 1st island and caught 2 croaker, went to long creek and scored 12 spot real quick.

We bouy hopped to the CLT, no Cobia. We got to the CLT and the kids were snorkling the tower. Asked them if they saw any jacks, they said they were there, then they tried to spear them and they split. Great!

We left the tower and ran to a few wrecks and nada, came back to the tower and still did not mark any jacks. Alot of bait popping on the west side, but there were 3 boats anchored right on top of them. Saw one boat land a falsie. I think there probably were jacks under the boats, but it was not enough room for us.

Since we saw many kings air out, we dropped spoons and trolled back to cape henry. About 5 min dolphins everywhere and we see them chasing the spread. I could not believe it. John grabs a reel that is screaming line off and a Dolphin airs out about 8ft and breaks off. 0-1 on flipper, I thought they were smart. biggrin.gif

See what I mean about cleaning fish before they're caught? biggrin.gif I fished Rudee today and went to town on horse croakers. Caught 50+; biggest was 2.5 lb. Caught plenty of spot also, but nothing big - biggest was 10".

Could you be more specific possibly?? 18-28lbs, 30-38lbs+, 40lbs+????? somewhere along that range??? sucks to have the gauges sayin that..

It's kind of hard to weight them when they were jumping 100 yards in front of the boat. They were all around the CLT area.

Maybe im wrong about it being kings, they jumped and fell back down to the water tail first. They were big looked at least 2 1/2 half foot in length. They looked very silver like a tarpon. John saw them also. We just assumed they were kings and put out spoons.

Im going to look at the guages issue. The temp guage is not ver accurate anyway. The volvo outdrive spits out water side to side right at the transom anyway and makes the temp ducer (which is in the SONAR ducer) read hot, so it has never been accurate. Im not sure what is up with the paddle wheel ducer reading infinity. Ill contact Lowrance.

As always, a great time Eric........it's not everyday Flipper steels one of your good spoons.............oh, well, I'll invest in another....definitely test the mechanics of a Penn 330, going 8 knots, with Flipper going 20 knots the other way..........

I have no problem doing it during the spade rush, but spade fishing is different. It's up close and personal with your fellow boat.
