710- double knockdown 2 30lb wahoo just east of the fingers in 30 fathoms
0830- troll to just north of the 44 fathom wreck- double knockdown =nothing
Troll to 50 fathoms in between the wreck and the canyon and for the next 4 hours had my pink and blue islander get hammered time after time(horse bally wwwb) from Mr. white marlin. I cant hook up. Questions about that will follow... Find a weed line and finally put the boys on 8 mahi. And then........dozens and dozens of yft swim right under my boat. Put the lines back out with nothing but a false albie.
More to follow.
Sea state and weather was amazing.
Had to be 30 boats fishing the same area.

It was a great great day day on the water yesterday, today should be the same!
Were you running or stopped at the weedline when the YFT went by?
Glad you had a fun day!

I was stopped at the weedline throwing squid in the water for some mahi when a school of albies came by on the surface and about 30 ft under them were a large school of yft. Very large tuna! Also saw 3 wahoo at the same spot about 10 feet under the water. Ive only been out 4 times but thats the most blue and clear water Ive ever seen out there.
Questions
1. What was i doing wrong. The wwwb was getting hit time after time. ZZ....ZZ..ZZ....ZZZZZZZZZ.... then off. Probably 6 times in 2 hours. Should i speed up? Give him line?
2. What speed should I be trolling at?
3. Is there a secret for trolling close to weed lines and not catching weeds?
4. Will someone with some experience PLEASE go with me next time. I had 2 other guys on the boat that had never been offshore and it was a pain in my *ss. The boat is going to be in the shop for about a week, but after that its game on!

Most of your offshore trolling will be between 5.5 and 7 knots. We stay close to 6 kts for a mixed spread. Speed up or slow down from there to where your lures/baits run the best. Will take a little experience, but you'll know when you see your spread and it's right.
If the weed line is scattered or broken up you'll just have to live with them messing you up.
Try trolling on the up wind or up current side as that is usually the cleaner edge. See which of your lures stays the cleanest when you run and remember that for those weedy locations.
Good luck!
Also your drag may be set too tight on your WTFB lures and the fish are biting off.
