Hey all...left the dock of Oyster at 9am sat morning and headed east..stopped at some weed lines and picked up a Mahi...lots of grass...tons of bait fish. We ran to the canyon and set up on anchor in 330 ft of water...fought a 150lb sword for half hour and lost him at the boat...pulled the hook when he was exhausted...fish laid on top of water for a few second before slowly vanishing back to the deep blue....had another sword on and lost also. We boated a real nice yellowfin early in am. Tilefish, sea bass,ling...were also caught. Great night to be in canyon..flat calm...makes up for all the times when i got beat up. Kept in contact with Seaduction off and on through the night..they had a similar night also. Until next time..keep slinging bait. Dale

Sounds like Ya'll had a nice trip/overnighter. (Bet you were glad to see that Sword fish sink).
Thanks for shareing your trip. Makes me think about doing an overnighter.

What do you think about doing an overnighter in a smaller boat? I have a 24'wa.

Sorry to hear you lost those swords, but glad to hear they are around. Sounds like a great night out there...thanks for the report!

Dale, thanks for the report. Glad you guys were there to talk to. Them swords are some sneaky critters but exciting to hook up. It sure was a beautiful night you have to admit. We'll get them swords next time.

You can do an overnighter in any size boat..it just depends on the weather and if you are comfotable doing an overnight trip on your boat. If you have never done one maybe you should try one on a boat that has been there overnight and knows what it takes to be comfortable. There are people always looking for a crew to split expenses. Couldn't have picked a better night. Half moon all night long with dead calm seas. Hooking up with swords.....hope my first overnighter goes like that.
