Sorry this is late but internet was down all weekend.
After a skunked trip on the 12th I figured I was in for a good trip this past saturday the 22nd. Decided to fish the cape henry area for flounder. Used Berkley Gulp bait, cut ocean squid and live spot, caught a nice sized sandshark on the ocean squid, had lots of bites but nothing landed on the artificial, and two flounder on the live spot, one was 17" and one 27.5 and 8.4lbs, got a little too close to the wreck, missed a few other nice fish and lost a lot of tackle, but still I'd say well worth it.
It's my first ever virginia salt water fishing citation. Came close a few weeks ago, but finally made paper with this one. I'll post the pics when I get the chance.

Congratulations, that's a heck of a fish. I've got a bunch of 23's this year but nothing bigger. Post some pics of the beast when you can and the paper when you get it. I've lived here three years now and have yet to see what a citation looks like. Seeing that class of fish surface for the first time must be an awesome sight.

Pretty work on the flattie paper. That's what I would call a successful trip.

Congrats on the paper!

You put your time in and it paid off!
BowedUp, if you want to know what a big flattie looks like, my avatar is an 11 lb flounder.

When I said citation I meant the actual paper if there is one. Have always been curious what it looks like.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I'll try to post up a pic of one when I get home from work.

Reel Daze, there are many many wrecks in the lower bay and on the oceanfront, there are a few websites that give some GPS numbers, and the state also has a list of artificial reefs with location on there. I think this is the page from the Virginia Marine Resources Commision
website.http://www.mrc.state.va.us/vsrfdf/reef.shtm
Hope this Helps,
Daniel

Reel Daze
I was fishing what I know as the Cape Henry Wreck, GPS coordinates should be easy to find, you can see it on any bottom machine shoots up about 20 feet off the bottom, good place to loose all your tackle btw so be careful.
