PART 1

Went out yesterday with newbie John (JohnS) and Jason (JFRYE) on john's boat. we launched from crabcreek and putted around lynnhaven inlet. talk about windy??? that is the first time ive seen 2 foot rollers on the river side of the lesner bridge. lots of boats out, everyone seemed to be catch big croaker, or nothing at all. we started fishing the lynnhaven river near an oyster reef. lots of little bites and one undersized flounder. then moved further down into lynnhaven bay and caught nadda. moved up into i think its long creek? we didn't go down as far as the great neck bridge. the current was ripping. we were using cut mullet and berkley gulps. me and jason managed two fish ive never seen before. but nothing else. last place we tried was right by the lesner bridge. making one last attempt in putting something into the cooler we fished there for a bit, fighting the current and other boats. i managed one 16" puppy on a whole finger mullet. jason had something crush a bunker. and i caught a 4-5lb striper on a bunker.

all in all it was a good, no sorry, great day on the water (minus the 400mph winds). thanks to john for taking us out on the boat.

PART 2
after helping john clean his boat i hed home to sit down and enjoy a cold one....then jason calls me. hes going to lesner to fish. see hes never caught a keepper puppy drum and wants to catch one he can take home. so what do i do? what any good friend should, tell him to meet me at my place, we load up and head out to lesner.

we get to lesner, incoming tide is ripping. 5 oz wont hold bottom, so we move further down the beach where i had caught some fish the other night. jason starts catching croaker immediately. i start catching little grey trout. we're using cut mullet, cut bunker, and shrimp. action is slow and just about at slack tide everything stops. then the tide starts the other way and we catch a small spec and a small flounder. jason is bored at this point and walks over to the bridge and starts casting in his lucky spot. hes not gone 5 minutes and comes back and says he just caught two keepable grey trout. so we pack our things and headed over there. trout were popping all over the lightline in the birdge. including up in the shallows. i couldn't catch them. jason was either getting a bite or catching a fish every cast. i wasn't getting censored2.gif we were using the same bait, casting the same place, same retireve. i dont get it. he won in the grey trout area, 7 - 1. but at least we finally had fish in the cooler. speaking of which i need to go do some cleaning!

hope you enjoyed my report. sorry its so long. wait...no im not. biggrin.gif
