By the looks of the SST charts there is a corridor of warm water from the south. It looks to be along the entire Southern Coast up to the Pamlico.I would think those Red Ones are using it to head this way.I bet the Puppys show up here soon. You can also see a warm core eddy forming today offshore.

That would be nice. I was in Hatteras over the weekend breaking in my skiff, and trying to get to em' early. Nothing going on inshore at all. Fished the inlet and some walls in the sound, missed one and that's it. Tried surf fishing at the point, just hoping for a shark....nada. water temps went from 44-48 throughout the weekend. I guess that was the good news.

The 3 yellow buoys about 3 miles east of rudy Inlet,it was late in the Summer I was headed out to Cobia Fish and the Fin Fever had a double hook up.I would go to the 9 foot shoal or even closer to the shore for some early action.

No drum around Oregon Inlet just yet, but they are catching small croaker and some sharks on the ocean side of the inlet. I have a buddy who caught two puppies outside hatteras last week though, so they are coming this way... just slowly. Eventually the weather will have to warm up though, it cant be february all year.
