Hello,

i live in california and i am going to be in the city of virginia beach for a wrestling tournament in late march and after the tournament i would like to go fishing out in the ocean. So i was wondering what kind of fishing would be good during that time and where you could get a part boat around there? Thank you

Nick

Welcome to Virginia Capt Ralph. March can be a rough month around here due to weather. Also it's a transition period, as the winter fishery is over, and the summer fish haven't arrived yet. With that being said, there is one thing that pops to mind. The march time frame is tops for wreck fishing for sea bass. The Virginia Beach Fishing Center runs big boats to the deep water wrecks for sea bass and tilefish. Sea bass are the northern brother of the grouper and are my favorite fish in the sea to eat. They typically run 2 to 5 lbs, and the tilefish 5 to 10 lbs. The boat supplies all bait and tackle, so it's perfect for travelers and is about 90 feet long so it's comfortable. Check their website, they sponsor this page so there's a link to them somewhere around here. Check the front page. Tight lines and good luck!

Welcome to the board! Like Marlin Maniac said...check with the Rudee Inelt Headbaots...best bet for fishing that time of year. Its also a great time for tautogs over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.

Welcome, hope you will enjoy your visit to VB with the other Grapplers! As George and Don pointed out March is one of our few slow months for offshore, in fact I haul out for maintenance and cleaning for the month of March and relaunch in April. Check out the trips mentioned for some fishing fun and also look through www.VBFUN.com the Virginia Beach Visitor's Bureau site for activities and events as well as links to our other board sponsors. Good luck.

You might want to check out www.rudeeinletcharters.com.... I don't think any of the piers will have much going on at that time... Maybe in late March....
