Hey all again,
Brother made it down, back's feeling good so we decided to get offshore.

SUN, 14 OCT: Oregon Inlet - Basically Goose + Egg = US! Got out to the Point worked from there to the Tuna Hole. No good weedlines, Saw a bunch of Bonita working the surface, and at one point came up on an area with a bunch of approx. 30 inch Tuna with Black Top Streak, and sort of a amber yellow sheen through the center of their body, and longer Pectoral fins. I think they were BlackFin Tuna. But they wouldn't bite to save our life. Trolled through them multiple times got close enough to cast Diamond jigs in them but nothing. That was basically it for us back at the dock looked like all the charters had tore up the King mackeral (including a bunch of huge SMOKERS) also a decent number wahoo.

Came back the E city that night tired and skunked got up the next morning to do it all over again. Got wild Postier hair and decided to keep rolling past O/I for Hatteras. Great temp break 23 miles off by the Rutgers website, and it turned out to be dead on. Had lines in by 0745 at the Rock Pile and worked from there South East about 8 miles and back and forth. No good weed lines But lots of small clumps with lots of life. Running one spoon Deep off a planer then 3 birds with skirt ballyhoo and two daisy chains. Not bad running 6 lines with two guys and no out riggers.
Slow at fist then Picked up two gaffer dolphin and one bailer all at once. Could'nt keep the school interested so kept trolling later on picked up another bailer dolphin. Then as time ran out Trolled right over the Rocked pile from South to North and Bam the Shot gun knocked down then went limp, and before we could check it with in 5 seconds our Left "Outrigger" pole sent a Penn 6/o screaming!! on the end of it was a 48 inch WAHOO. Went back to the shotgun and it was broken off just behind the Bird. Don't know if it was the same fish or a second but at least we got it in the boat. Did much better when Trolling 8-10 MPH than 6-7. In all
4 Dolfin (2 Gaffers)
1 Wahoo.
Great Day!! Also caught a 2 little brown fish on a light artificials tipped with squid. After some research found out that they were baby Almaco Jacks. ALso caught 2 skipjacks, and one juvenile Blackfin Tuna. Water was 82 to 83 Degrees! AWESOME.

Pretty work Andy! Those tuna you came across sound like true albcore, sometimes called longfin tuna. Tasty little critters, but I've come across schools of every species of tuna at one time or other and couldn't get a bite. Frustrating. The Mahi and wahoo are real good consolation for the lack of A tuna bite though. There's always next week for a little yellowfin SAR. Tight lines and good luck!
