Lines Wet @ 2030 hrs, outgoing tide just barely getting started. Water Temp ~72°F. SW winds were blowing as predicted, but the waves just didn't really get going. It was choppy though, with plenty of rolling. I wouldn't recommend a 14ft jon-boat, but he was out there too. Caught 3 nice Grey's 20-23" right out of the chute on small 3" shad baits on the rocks. Switched over to the deeper pilings once the tide got rolling, limited out in approximately 15 minutes with 25-28" rockfish. Continued to fish all the way up to 0030 catching loads of schoolies. There were massive clouds of 2-3" glass minnows getting pushed up into the light line/pilings with rockfish, bluefish, and grey trout all getting in on the action (literally flying out of the water every which-way). On two occasions I swear my bait never touched the water on the cast, the fish jumped out and hit the bait before it could splash-down. Incidentally, this was one of the few times when all the fish really seemed keyed in on the glass minnows. Usually I like to throw a large 6" bait to go for the bigger fish lurking below, but this time the fish really weren't interested in it. Of course you could throw just about anything and still catch fish, but my buddies and I switched out spoons, jigs, plastics with all different colors, white was by far the best but the white fin-S with a clear/silver-sparkle back was absolutely the ticket.

Nice report DP. Were you between the bridges or on the river side?

We were fishing the Norfolk-side island up-current of the east-bound bridge.

This might seem like a stupid question to most of you, but I'm from up North and was wondering what is the HRBT? I plan on doing some Striper Fishing down in the lower bay at the end of November and am trying to get some info on where to go..
Any insight would be much appreciated.

the HRBT is the Hanpton roads Bridge Tunnel. It is where I 64 goes under the and over the water. Once you get down to the area hit up one if the local bait shops for a map and some intel for the time of the area. It will change daily.

Long bay point which is in Va Beach, but there are many others it all depends where you are going to put in. There are more than I could list but long bay point is good and I am sure that you could find some more along the way. PM me and we can talk.
