Tautoug??? I haven't heard about any Taugs.... smilie_pinoc.gif

Taugs are year 'round fish. They do not migrate too far. Fiddlers, crab knuckles, even clams are good baits. Braided line is what i use because it is very sensative, and Taugs are lite nibblers.A 3 way swivel with 10lb mono going to your weight will keep you from losing to many rigs in the rocks. The weight breaks off instead of your rig. A dropper loop on 40-50lb mono will get you hooked up. As the water gets cooler the bite will really pick up. Taugs are very slow growing fish, So keep what you want, but try to be responsible. Jason Tags a lot of them, which is a cool thing. Most people ignore taugs because they are thick in striper season. the bite is good in march and april also. Hope that helped-Fatbeard

Thanks for the insite there. I am looking at taking my son out and try for them if the weather ever gets good on a weekend. I took my 4 year old son out 2 weeks ago and got him a few stripers and he loved it so I want to switch it up for him.

You can fish for them year round, where ever you catch a Taug you can bet it was born there & will spend its life there. I catch them year round, just dont advertise it. I like my little world like it is on the ES
