Fished saturday with my dad, started out up by the high rise tolling 6" storms around the pilling but we didn't catch anything but pillings. On our way back in stopped off at the 4th island with the rest of the fleet.

I really don't like fishing in a crowd like that but today I had a secret weapon, 5 live spot hold over from a late october flounder trip that never happened. They survived 3 weeks in my holding tank with no food. Set up and made a drift over the rocks we missed the first fish and lost a spot, we didn't miss again catching 4 fish on the next 5 drifts. As soon as our bait hit the bottom they were on it, and you either had a fish or missed one. We ended up with our limit in about 30min, 4 fish 20, 23, 27 and 40. I posted the pic of the big boy on stripersonline. He went 28lbs and is my biggest to date and made for a really good fishing day with my dad. Another good memory from a season full of them.

What i'm wondering is why no one makes any softbaits that look like spot? I think that they would sell out if they produced something that resembled a spot! What do ya'll think?

COngrats sounds like a good day salvaged by the drifting.
