JDOGHUNTS
We went out there, but headed south of the point, Put lines in on the ledge about 18 miles south of the point. water temp was 75deg. we crossed the temp break of 59 right to 69 about 7 miles from the ledge. we thought we would get back to try it but never made it.
We had 3 knockdowns and caught 1 bonita.
We came across tuna fever down there, they are part of the OI fleet, We thought we was in a good spot.
If I went back Sunday I would fish that temp break, it was green water but looking back seemed alot more fishyer.
well boats somewhat cleaned, desalted. headed off to sleep. meeting some guys at 4:30, going after some bluefin closer to home.
Fyi, I heard some of the charters in the fleet were skunked. It was a tuff day. Fish won't feeding

Good times once again!! Always fun working the grounds with Black Pearl and crew close by. I think the word was out the Team Still Think'n was around...we were getting worked by the charter boys hard yesterday. That's all right...big guns will be out for the PC Tuna Round Up.(new orgainzers just took over the tourneys down there to by the way)

Any way...here's some pics of Otter back in the grove!!

Here's another...

We had two-tones with us all day. Fished the 700 line between 100-500 fathoms. Got the tuna on a B/W Tiki Bar. Had a hit on the planner, but may have been a two-tone bumping the planner itself. Great fishing with Eric for the first time. Steady, Ot and Bob...thanks for the trip once again!

really crazy day yesterday...we missed the fleet heading out and I didn't have any tracks for OI left on my GPS. So..about 5 small boys pulled out and started the run out of OI...well, one of the boats a couple of boats in front of us went out of the channel and went into the mud on the right of the channel as your heading out....chain reaction and 3 or 4 boats including me went into the mud. Had to trim the motors way up and back out of there.....so we get out, run the crack and get up on plane...well Still Think'n is listing hard to port, appears one of my trim tabs had mud or something in it which prevented from coming all the way up...stopped the boat and Otter gets over the side and clears the planer. Jeff and Todd and crew on black pearl comes by to make sure we were OK..tks for that buddy, appreciate the assist.

Get back up on plane and everything is running great.....get lines in and start the troll...well, we find a huge POD of porpoise with only a couple of Charter boys on them...we start to work them and the big boys (Charters) were pushing me all over the place man...I would turn right and they would dog me...it was pretty bad. so we left and went north to the 750 line and were working behind a trawler with no luck so we went back to the 700 line but went deeper than most other boats and found Black Pearl out there working a POD of two tones. We spent a couple of hours working them by ourselve (with black pearl) before we come tight on the TIKI bar. This fish was pulling hard man...we thought it was a beast..get him in the boat and find the line had wrapped around his gill plate which he was so hard to get in. I don't know how the line didn't get cut as the gill plate is pretty sharp.

That was about it for the day...about 15 minutes after I get a fish in the boat here comes the fleet and they were on us again.....tough day out there for sure....but had a blast, ERIC did great dealing with my crew of scalleywags and all their hijinxs...Otter got right back in the swing of things after some time off and DON and Steady as always were on their a-game..well other than the naps they both took while we were fishing ! Guess they need nappy time....tha's gonna wind it up for 2007 offshore....but 2008 is only 3 weeks away !!!!!!!!!!!.......Bob

Thanks Bob for taking me for the ride and letting me bring bad luck to the whole OI OB fleet. biggrin.gif

Im sure everyone knows by now, but that southport is one sweet dry ride.

It was great listening to Steady, Otter and 50F's endless display of knowledge on current events, music and song.

It's now time to fill the freezer with rocks.

Good times yesterday. Otter raised a stuck trim tab with sheer brute stregnth! He hit it with his purse and put some man on it at the same time. A rare feat. Eric took alot of abuse, from us and other boats. Brutal.

Fatbeard......the song has new verses and has a christmas feel to it......it is awesome.

The OI fleet isn't very friendly. The must still harbor bad feelings. The pushed us around yesterday pretty hard.

Bob.......I didn't nap, I needed to look at the spread from a different angle. I was awake the whole time.

Thanks for everything.

P.S. I CAN'T WAIT FOR STRIPER SEASON ! It is gonna be so much fun to work schools of fish with 400-600 other boats, johnboats and sportfishers, all with kids on board just looking to put them on fish. I bet right now it is raining gannets somewhere off the ramada or the golf ball! All the 40 pounders you want! See yall out there!

Bob,

Glad y'all got one. No doubt the entertainment alone is worth the price of admission. Catchin' fish is just one of the perks of the ride biggrin.gif

Still Thinkin had a dang good year and I'm happy for ya and your worthless crew.
