I need to add at least 2 reels to my attack of the offshore fish next year. What better time to put them on my wish list.

Have you thought about the Avet 50W? They are lighter, with more drag and $30 cheaper. I have 12 Avets. (4 50W's) The only thing that bothers me is the clickers on the 30's and 50's, but it's a minor complaint.

Id go with Penn, Avets are nice, but those clickers can be frustrating.....

love shimanos but thats all i fish for the most part. Have two penns and they are smooth as well. For my money, I'm buying tiagras because of the power handles and the drag. Have you tried the power handle? It makes a difference. Got two tld 50's to sell if you want something cheaper.

We fish 5 of each.
Had the Penn's 15 years -added the Tiagra's in 2006. I like the Penn's more. Smaller -therefore easier to store and parts are easier to obtain.
Early Times works them in the cockpit on Water Dog so he may have different opinion.

Go with the tiagras if your wallet can afford it. If not, then go with the new TLD A series for half the price.
