That happened to me twice this year. It is real aggervating... in fact, if the Pope had been with me he would have been ticked off too.

Pretty sure that's a felony if you're caught. It's really not that hard to not troll between the bouys.

Don't hate me for saying this but........ it's not that hard if you pay attention to the markers and buoys. I grew up fishing around them.. your usually safe if you fish on either side(lengthwise) of the buoys but depending on how taught they have the net strung and how strong the current is at the time will depend on how far or close you can fish to the actual net itself. If done right, using the net as "chum" per say, you can catch just about anything you want this time of year. As usual you will more than likely lose a few lures here and there but then.... don't use the real expensive ones in this case, you don't need them with the bait already in the net.. smilie_flagge13.gif food-smiley-004.gif vbsf_th.jpg

That is until they put so many in one area that you cannot tell the beginning and the end. That is what burns me. I pay good money for my gear also.

I just stay away from any bouy now, they can have it.

Tampering with a net is not a felony, it's just a real bad idea. Just keep in mind that by disturbing a net you are messing with someone's livelyhood and they are not going to take too kindly to it. Also, if someone were to cut the markers on a net it would not just dissapear, it would just be there year round, killing fish and catching tackle. If you want to limit the number of nets on the water, talk to your state representatives. Personally I'm in favor of a complete ban on gill nets in all virginia waters, but I wouldn't even consider touching someone else's property.
