Has anyone heard of any reports or actually tried launching out of Kiptopeke, going out to the ocean waters and headed north up the Eastern Shore to catch stripers. My boat is in Cape Charles and after reading the rants about Owl's Creek boat ramp and all the weekend warriors there I'm thinking I really don't want to drag my boat back over the bridge and sit in line for 2 hours to launch. It seems like everyone is fishing way south now, but they don't seem to be crushing the stripers lately. I'm hoping to go the weekend of the 18th and try it out of Kiptopeke. Any advice or reports would be appreciated. I hope at least half of you get out there today and tomorrow and enjoy this warm weather.
Wishing I was fishing

The bite has been scattered. You might find them at the mouth of the bay soon, so launching from Kiptopeke might be a better option that weekend. Its hard to say where the bite will happen. It wasn't south yesterday. You don't know unless you go.

I was at Fisherman's Wharf this afternoon rigging baits.
A boat came in to refuel that had fished up north off Cape Charles Light (oceanside). The bite was up there this afternoon according to these guys - who did not seem to be bullsh##ing me.
For you guys who are having to fight this ramp thing (I know that must be awful) Kiptopeake and a run around Fisherman's Island might work. First bite I have heard of up there this year, but we did well up there last year.

dam....guess I won't be alone up there for the shootout now....Bob
Thanks for all the responses. Sounds like I need to get my crew together and give it a try. I assume all of you are trolling by now. We did great with the eels in the Bay, but couldn't buy a fish trolling in December. I'm looking forward to dragging the spread for a few days. Now if the weatherman will just treat us right and keep these fish from vacationing in N.C.
