I'm interested in doing some deepwater vertical jigging. I've got a variety of jigs to try and most of them have a single assist hook. I'm just wondering if a tandem assist hook rig is better. What do you guys prefer, one hook or two.

conch27 is a jigging maniac. Send him a pmail and he'll be able to assist. Good luck!!

It depends on intended species i have noticed with tuna they typically always go for the head of a jig you have to be vigilant about how double top hooks swing around as sometimes they hook each other and if a fish hits it he doesnt come tight it is rare you will catch one on a bottom hook. But if you are going for sea bass tile fish snapper and bottom fish we have had numerous three fish hook ups on one jig. river2sea just came out with a line of hooks with real stiff loops this should help the hook tangling problem. I am currently putting together a very informative two page article for Don to post on his new 2008 how to articles Look for it soon complete with a few photos of this past years jigging trips. conch

Conch, Looking forward to your jigging article. Ever sence your 1st tuna trip of 2008, I have been trying to find out about jigging. If it goes 3 pages, don't worry about it.

Conch27: First I'd just like to say thanks for the help. But I'm confused. Are you talking about a hook on the top and one on the bottom of the jig or two off the head. Also I'm curious as to what jigs your prefer for bottom fish. I can't wait to read your article when it comes out.

Some jigs allow only top hooks, some allow top and bottom and some like the williamson abyss jig allow top bottom and center. As far as favorite bottom jigs go bottom dwellers will hit any jig, they are not choosy but you need to be choosy and i will tell you why and how in the coming article.

When do you think that will be up and where will I be able to find it.

J-Hoss. Mike said he'd have it some time next week. Tony will add it to the How-to Section on the sites home page....http://www.vbsf.net/How_To_Index.htm

I'm looking forward to it as well!
