I am looking a giving it a try again this Saturday... and maybe Sunday. I will probably be fishing Cape Henry or a little north. Has anyone had any luck north recently. It seems that most of the fish are south of the VA line. If you read the Va Beach fishing Center web site you would swear the fish are jumping into the boats. We fished last Saturday and only managed 5 fish. The biggest 2 were 35 inches. From reading the other post everone had a slow day. We headed back to the Salt Ponds at 3 pm. Maybe we needed to stay till dark. Any advice. Hope to see you on the water.

I think you got the right area in mind. I will most likely be in the Cape Henry to 4A bouy area hugging the Bay line. Last Febuary the bay was loaded with big fish and it appears it is again this year. When I was coming in on the Sat. the 29th there where schools of big (6-8") menhaden from the CBBT all the way down past the Little Creek Inlet to Ocean View Beach and there where striper feeding on them. I pray those Menhadden Boats don't get em. The C/R guys where catching striper trolling up to 38" that I heard about, just like last year. They should be moving towards Cape Henry and Fire up the Striper fishing. The Catch and Release bite in the bay has been good, we just need to get them over the line so we can keep them.

I think we'll try south on Sat. We'll be on Channel 79 -"Water Dog" -if you want to work out something on the communications we'll be happy to report if we can find something.
Just for the record I wouldn't say marinia web sites would lie -- but with 50 boats fishing they'll always find one to take a picture of or make a report -that may be the ONLy boat that caught something but they will find something. It's website's job to sell charters -not catch fish. Seen it several times at OI

I'm hoping to be out there on Sunday. Probably hit CH area and the Bay/ocean line. Saturday I will be jumping in the Atlantic Ocean to help support the Special Olympics at the Va Bch Polar Plunge. Maybe I'll wrestle some stripers from the surf and throw em on the beach.

Anyone have an opening on their boat? I've been itching to get out there but my boat is in the shop and half gutted on the inside. I'd bring my own tackle and pitch in a little for gas and whatnot. Let me know if anyone is interested!

Keep in mind that the ocean coastal forecast is for out to 20 miles and so is misleading when you are fishing the coast. With a west wind you will have no problem out to 3 miles. A forecast of W, SW winds is ideal for small boats fishing CH, VA Bch oceanfront.
