What all is required for a VA resident to trailer down to NC for offshore tuna action?
Billable

A boat, with a trailer, something to pull it, (don't exceed your vehicle's gross weight), individual NC Fishing Licenses (or a Boat Permit), HMS Tuna Permit (boat or individual), a bunch of Get Reel Lures, and some beer. Good Luck!

Dave is right on his post. I would just emphasize compliance. I was at the fishing center Friday afternoon. NC compliance boys were on station - checking bluefins and licenses.

How much is the NC boat license?

No blanket license in NC. It sucks. Each person that is fishing needs to have a CRFL if the fish are landed in NC.

Correction....Only for hire vessels and fishing piers can get a blanket license.

Thanks for the assistance, you all. No boat license available for purchase, and no recriprocal agreements with VA -- what is the world coming to?
All in all, I suppose $30 bucks isn't TOO bad....
Thanks again,
Tom

Yea Tom, the Boat License is "For Hire" Vessels, hence I got one for BillableOurs at $200, but anybody that fishes on her is covered and somebody always "forgets" to get one. A reciprocal agreement between VA and NC has come up several times but never got passed. We can hope that Sportsmanship and Mutual Respect can win out in ways that are fair for both States at some time in the future. When VMRC starts writing paper on NC boats over the line the pressure may be on to work a deal.

Yeah Tom, $30 bucks isn't bad considering all the Get Reel Lures you have on order!!!!
I saw in Sundays Pilot that NC had record fishing license sales last year...that's because everyone on a boat needs to have there own..DUH!!!

If it is the weight guys that pull their checking weight
if a state trouper pulls you its for speeding or something
i know everyone going to say they are the same but just because they drive the same cars they do different things
its times like this i wished i had took typing in school
I know it don't make any sense to me either but thats the way it is
hope this helps
